BUYING A AIRSOFT GUN: THE LAW

UK LAWS AND REGULATIONS: BUYING A AIRSOFT GUN

We quite often get asked why we can't sell a airsoft gun to just anyone so have put together this brief guide to explain the rules and regulations.

In the UK there are requirements under law that have to be met when purchasing a Airsoft gun in the UK. This is a way to prove you will be using the airsoft gun for the purposes of playing Airsoft and not for other nefarious means.

Two Tone Weapons:

Two Tone weapons are Airsoft guns that are painted or coloured at least 50% a bright colour. You do not need any special memberships or meet any special requirements to purchase a two tone other than be over 18.

RIF's (Realistic Imitation Firearms)

RIF's are Airsoft guns that look and are coloured the same as a real firearm. In order to purchase a RIF you must meet the following criteria:1. You are over 18.2. You are and can prove one of the below applies to you:

  • You are a 'registered' airsofter with membership of an insured skirmish site. To be registered, you must attend a properly organised and insured airsoft site and play for at least three days over a period of no less than two months. Even if you attend and play the three days in your first week, UK Law requires that two months pass from the first day you attended before you can legally be registered. Most commonly be UKARA registered.
  • You are a member of a properly insured historical re-enactment group or society.
  • You are a film, television or theatre production company.
  • You are (or are acting on behalf of) a museum
  • You are a Crown Servant in pursuance of your Crown duties

Purchasing a RIF:

In order to purchase a RIF from us you will need to submit your Airsoft Player Number or other valid defence to us. We will then validate the information you have provided prior to dispatching the item(s). If you do not provide a valid defence this can hold up the dispatch process and may result in the order being cancelled and refunded minus a £10 admin fee.
