BUYING A AIRSOFT GUN - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

We quite often get asked why we can’t sell airsoft guns to just anyone, so we have put together this brief guide to explain the rules and regulations on buying a airsoft gun.

In the UK there are requirements under law that have to be met when purchasing a Airsoft gun in the UK. This is a way to prove you will be using the airsoft gun for the purposes of playing Airsoft and not for other nefarious means.

Two Tone Weapons:

Two Tone weapons are Airsoft guns that are painted or coloured at least 50% a bright colour. You do not need any special memberships or meet any special requirements to purchase a two tone other than be over 18.

RIF’s (Realistic Imitation Firearms)

RIF’s are Airsoft guns that look and are coloured the same as a real firearm. In order to purchase a RIF you must meet the following criteria:

1. You are over 18.

2. You are and can prove one of the below applies to you:

• UKARA/BAC Member: You are a ‘registered’ airsofter with membership of an insured skirmish site. To be registered, you must attend a properly organised and insured airsoft site and play for at least three days over a period of no less 2 months. Even if you attend and play the three days in your first week, UKARA regulations require that a minimum of 56 days pass from the first day you attended before you can be registered. Most common defence is to be UKARA registered or BAC registered.
• You are a member of a Airsoft site that holds third party liability insurance. Such as a member of Combat Airsoft (see Combat Airsoft Membership page for details)
• You are a member of a properly insured historical re-enactment group or society.
• You are a film, television or theatre production company.
• You are (or are acting on behalf of) a museum.
• You are a Crown Servant in pursuance of your Crown duties.

Purchasing a RIF:

In order to purchase a RIF from us you will need to submit your defence details at the point of purchase. We will then validate the information you have provided prior to dispatching or selling in person the item(s). If you do not provide a valid defence this can hold up the dispatch process and may result in the order being cancelled and refunded minus an admin fee.
